Sultapur Bird Sanctuary Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
Sultanpur, 46 kms to the south-west of Delhi, is a green haven with a lake and wild birds. Sultanpur was declared a water-bird reserve in 1972 and its grounds are lush with lawns and trees and shrubs and masses of bougainvillea.



Hundreds of species of migratory birds have winged in to stay. Winter brings in birds from as far as Siberia. Flock of geese from Europe wing in too. The local birds flap in. The bird population include darters, egrets shovellers, gadwell and geese dominate. Teals, kingfishers, lapwings, sandpipers; demoiselle cranes and such like water birds nestle in. Over 100 species have been identified here.

Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to visit the Sultanpur National Park is during the months of December and January because it is the main period for migratory birds.
